“We just completed a complete pool remodel with Gardener Pool and Spa. We priced 5 companies and they came in just below the rest. I chose them because they don’t outsource any of the labor. There is no middle-man, which can create issues. We replaced plaster with pebble sheen, replaced the tile, coping, decking, light, added a heater, switched to salt water and got a new pump. “We had Gardner Pools “replaster’ our pool in Poway back in 2015. We went with the classic white Pebble fina quartz. It has held up well over the last 4 years. We developed a small rust spot and Gardner came back out. Turned out to be a small piece of re-bar that was causing the problem. They cut a 4” square, removed the offending metal, and patched it. Nearly identical to the surrounding quartz. Chaz was the technician and he was professional, skilled, and efficient. Would highly recommend this company for pool remodeling.”

“Gardner did a great job replastering my pool. It looks terrific with Blue Granite PebbleSheen. They weren’t cheap, in fact they were the most expensive choice but in this case I got what I paid for.
I got two other bids (after interviewing 3 other companies). One of those was for a competing surface (WetEdge Pearl Matrix). They are very similar in look and feel. But go to the PebbleTec site and you get an easy to find history by clicking on “about,” they’ve been in the US since 1988. Go to WetEdge and under “about” you get pictures of their people. At the bottom of that page they have a “resources” link but even that has no history. I could not locate a history on them anywhere on their site or on line. I discarded the company bid that was using that.
The Gardener bid also included an option for other regular plaster. It would have been a considerable savings but we decided to upgrade from regular plaster to the PebbleTec.
We chose Gardner over the other PebbleTec bidder based on referrals from a variety of sources including my local pool supply store, my pool guy and a friend who owns his own pool maintenance business.
In addition to the pool work itself, Gardener helped us get in touch with additional services as needed. In our case we had to get some concrete work done and our tiles and stacked stone needed to be cleaned. Not only did they put me in touch with these companies, they adjusted their schedule so the companies could get their part of the job completed. I was pleased with all of their referrals. I felt that all involved went out of their way to make things work besides doing an excellent job.
In the end my final cost was within 3.7% of their estimate. I expected things to change a bit as they demoed the old plaster and exposed potential problems. They actually deducted a planned repair that I had one of their recommended outside contractors do. They still had to add the cost of some needed repairs to the total.
The last part of the process is the start up. I felt their start-up guy did a terrific job. Besides his usual routine he helped me troubleshoot an issue I noticed.
Yes, overall this was a good experience! I highly recommend Gardner for your pool replastering. If you need anything else done, pay attention to their recommendations.”

“I just had Gardner Outdoor and Pools complete the repair and replastering of my pool on 1-19-18. I chose Blue Granite mini-pebble. The crews that serviced me were outstanding at their craft from tile and grout repair, tile cleaning, demo of the old pebble and haul away and putting in the new pebble-tec. Caesar who mixed the Pebble did a fabulous job. Sergio who was the foreman on the plastering really knew his craft. The final acid wash team were extremely clean and made the finish pebble look great before start up. Josh, the overall field supervisor was at my house 3 times to communicate with me. I always got automated calls the day before each process and the office was good at giving me a schedule in advance and responding to any questions I had via e-mail. Prices were fair. Underwater Solutions fixed a hairline crack in advance with high pressure epoxy and Gardner was great coordinating their schedule to be after the crack fix. My pool looks fabulous after their work and I had my pool man install Pentair color LED lights with the intelligent bright controller. My recommendation is to get 3 estimates but strongly consider Gardner Pools for your remodel.”

“This company does fantastic work. They resurfaced my grandmothers pool about four years ago. The pool has looked amazing ever since. They laid beautiful brick along the edge, laid special sparkly stuff into the plaster, and when the sun hits it, the whole pool shimmers. The best part is the marble turtles that are enlayed on the bottom. It is really, really, beautiful.
Unfortunately, when the pool was originally laid, the rebar was not deep enough and our pool developed a rust spot. 🙁 since none mentioned it during the resurfacing, this company completely took responsibility for the issue, and graciously patched the spot for us.
The customer service was not only excellent this time, but my grandmother has never had anything but great things to say of them. The guys that came out got along so good with her, that by day two of our patch job they showed up with a card for her, and she had coincidentally had hot muffins from the oven waiting for them. That type of thing is rarely seen from a company in today’s world.
I highly recommend them, and we in fact regularly have clients of theirs to the house to see the amazing work they do.. 5 stars all the way.”

“I can’t imagine a better pool remodeling company or any way of improving on their work, whether it’s their pricing, their efficiency, their work ethic, their honesty and competency, their courtesy, or their attention to detail and quality of materials. As a result of a City Inspector’s requirement during my house remodel, I had to change the direction of my outdoor drains from one side of the house to the other. This necessitated removing 100% of the large poured concrete patio, pool surround, sidewalks, and driveway. Since that had to be done, I decided to investigate what could be done with my 30 year old, fairly large but rather cheaply-made in ground pool. I studied Yelp ratings and recommendations and chose three of the highest-rated pool contractors to examine it and make their recommendations, while listing my requirements for the completed job. While I enjoyed talking with all of them and getting their ideas, only when Gardner came, did I begin to understand what great things were possible and how much useful and essential information had been left out of the first two contractors’ analysis and vision. I was thrilled, when the competitive bids were sent to me, that Gardner’s price was virtually the same as the others. When the actual work began, I was astonished by their comprehensive approach to the project. I watched a small army of professionals, each with their own specialty, re-create and improve my tired old pool and spa. Missed appointments, no-show workdays, and surprise add-ons – those qualities that seem to characterize contractors today and drive owners up a wall – didn’t happen. Everything went exactly as indicated in exactly the way it was described, courteously and pleasantly. They replaced hundreds of feet of 20 year-old pipe, added more powerful jets to the spa, installed and tested the new equipment, and did a perfectly artistic job on the tile, while finding the best custom coping for the dimensioned paver surround. What could be better? On every level I recommend them without hesitation. Followup has been superb!”

“Gardner did our recent spa resurfacing at our Mission Viejo home with the pebbletech finish and we would certainly recommend them without hesitation. Shortly after completion, we had some major leakage and they sent a leak detection service several times until the problem was found, which they fixed. We then had another leakage problem and we called Josh about it. He came out, took a look and identified the problem as being with the spa equipment. We tried to fix it ourselves but realized that it needed a brand new part. Josh was kind enough to order it for us so that we got it at his price. Gardner’s “after the sale” service has been superb, even if it took a little bit of time the first time to get the leak detection folks out. We would highly recommend them (they were recommended by our original hardscape and pool contractor to do the remodel).”

“On the recommendation of our local pool supply store I had Gardner replaster my pebbletec spa in May 2018. The spa had been leaking (losing water) for the last three years and I had attempted to plug the leaks with various sealants which all seemed to last about 90 days. After meeting with Gardner I was assured this was going to solve the problem which it did. I was really impressed with Gardner. They had four different teams of workers which completed their portion of the job (demo, repair, replaster pebbletec, and startup). Each team did an excellent job and were very knowledgeable about their area. I enjoyed talking with each group. “I was extremely pleased with the work and service that Gardner provided. They replastered our pool with Pebble Tec Pebblesheen as well as replaced our tiling. They also added a water feature and changed our pool system to salt water.
Being a complete pool newbie, I had no idea of what I was doing. After contacting several pool companies, Josh at Gardner came over and walked me through the entire process. He explained how to use what we currently had and the pluses and minuses of the salt water system. They was never any pressure to do anything but it was great to finally get an understanding of how the pool equipment worked. He provided a very competitive quote and was very prompt at responding to my emails and calls.
The end result was great. I was a little unnerved initally once the crew started tearing apart the pool, but it was amazing how fast they got the existing plaster out. The entire process was over much quicker than I anticipated and Josh was great with providing me with constant updates.
That was over 6 months ago and they’re still providing me with excellent service. A leaked had formed over an old pipe in the equipment and they were quick to come out and fix it. The pool equipment wasn’t working right (user error) and Josh came over and explained what I was doing wrong. Just awesome customer service and I have recommended them to several friends since.”

“I don’t usually write reviews but I felt that this one is deserved. Our pool was installed in the late 70s and re-plastered once since then so our pool was much in need of new plaster. So, not being in a hurry, we started our search early this year for a company that we felt we could trust to do outstanding work. Therefore, we carefully contacted several companies and received quotations from six. After, checking out work done by several and comparing pricing we decided to use Gardner to do the work that turned out to be a great decision.
A major factor in our decision was Mike Yeakel. He was very responsive and worked with us (mainly my wife) with tile selection and other concerns that we had. In addition to re-plastering the pool we had them install an energy efficient pump and all new valves. This was a very good decision that has resulted in a sizable reduction in our monthly electric bill.
Once the work started, we were very impressed with their crew which all were Gardner employees–they did not outsource the work to subcontractors. The quality of the work, start-to-finish, was first class and each phase of the job was completed as scheduled and as promised.
When the re-plastering was completed they filled the pool and came back to check the water and adjust the chemicals several times. They did beautiful work and we really appreciate how professional they all were, very neat work, fantastic price. Another important suggestion Mike made was to hire Frank Acevedo to maintain our pool. We are really impressed with Frank’s work and how great he keeps our pool looking good.
Since the work was done, we found a couple of things we missed and Mike responded quickly to resolve these issues. As you can tell, we were happy with the new pool and the great customer service we received as well. We highly recommend Gardner Outdoor and Pool Remodeling. “Completely remodeling/rebuilding an old pool is an extremely complicated project. After interviewing several pool contractors, I chose Gardner Outdoor & Pool Remodeling. Gardner was not the least expensive and I’m very happy I chose them. From the onset, Kevin, Mike, Tracy and Josh were timely/professional as they guided us through the process (not an easy one either). The part that impressed me the most was their ability to work through the unforeseen challenges that developed, and trust me, there were plenty as it’s the nature of this type of project. Their problem solving skills were excellent as they took my budget and project goals into consideration. I have high expectations and I felt they were exceeded by this company. Nothing is perfect but I’m sure glad I chose a partner like Gardner.

“First of all, the quotation process was thorough, detailed, and informative. Hats off to David! We contracted with Gardner Outdoor and Pool Remodeling to do necessary repairs, re-tile, re-plaster, install new LED lights, and install new wide drain covers. The most difficult part was choosing the tiles. After two trips to the showroom, we finally selected the tile we liked, and in the end are very pleased with the tile selection. The demolition phase took only one day. It was loud, but we had notified our surrounding neighbors ahead of time, so got no complaints. After the demolition, two evaluators came out to assess the soundness of the gunite shell. They found several problems which needed to be repaired at additional cost. The Change Order quote was reasonable. Each successive step took place day by day, Monday through Friday. I was pleased that no construction work was done on the weekends. The job was completed ahead of schedule. Each crew worked diligently and with great skill. Everyone was friendly. After each day of work, the crew cleaned up well, leaving our yard clean, as though no one had been working there. I highly recommend Gardner Outdoor and Pool Remodeling.”

“I was in need of repair to my spa. This was not a big job but after a couple months of pursuing quotes for this repair, I was frustrated with the process. I had already received several crazy-high quotes from various pool and spa companies when I saw Gardner’s truck in the area I live and called them. I had a callback and estimate within 2 days. Of all the quotes I received, Gardner was the most realistic. Kevin explained the cost, how to save some money, and gave me a realistic time frame for when they could do the work. Tracy contacted me about the project schedule and much to my surprise, kept that schedule to the day (OK, they missed it by 1 day because we actually had a rain event in So. Cal.). The field crew was on time, efficient, and cleaned up the work area pretty good. They showed up when they said they would and finished when they said they would. I was impressed. Pool companies are known for being flaky, but Gardner was a breath of fresh air and based on what I experienced, I would recommend them highly.”

“We have the pool of our dreams thanks to Gardner Pool Plastering. Our experience was amazing from start to finish. When Mike Yeakel met me in my back yard to measure and show me samples of what could be possible for our pool finish, Beadcrete Luminous, I knew we were talking to the top rated company in Orange County.
My husband and I needed to see some PebbleSheen pools for color. Mike had arranged two trips to see six pools, one of which was a Beadcrete Luminous spa. He put our needs first and was very accommodating. When the day of plastering came, the Gardner crew was on time and in uniform. Each person did their job with expertise and efficiently with the end product being a very even application. This was so important to me. I had seen another pool finish by a different company and was very unsure of the outcome possible. The acid wash was done as an impeccable job!
Our travertine had not been sealed yet, but the crew was careful to cover it and it was left in perfect condition. We felt confident that Gardner would be in charge of the pool start-up an maintenance to keep our new pool in the most perfect condition. We would recommend Gardner to anyone.
